Lipstick use

Am I the only woman alive who *doesn't* use lipstick? I'm with Onyx; I hate the way it tastes when it gets in my mouth. I don't like leaving marks on my food or drink glasses. It actually makes me ill like when you smell an extremely gross and horrid smell. And the smell of it, too, is not pleasant to me.

I've found lip gloss with colour in it and will use that if I want colour but beyond that, I'm comfortable with chapstick/clear lip gloss.

Anyone else feel this way? Am I just being a rebellious sheeple?

Lipstick was probably the first cosmetic I ever used. I (thankfully) have decently defined, full lips and I like highlighting them.

But if it weren't for the new "all day" formulas, I'd hate it as much as you do. I don't like the feel, taste, or smell of "normal" lipsticks. I also hate how they rub-off onto others when you kiss them, and if you SERIOUSLY kiss, how both of you end up looking like you ate jelly doughnuts VERY messily. :laughing The bleeding & feathering of regular lipsticks, particularly dark reds like I like to wear when dressed, is another major "ick" for me.

But I love the new all-days because they eliminate ALL of that. They may smell, I'm not sure - once I've used a cosmetic long enough I don't smell it anymore. And many of them are drying to different degrees, so that's another drawback that would probably turn off people who already don't like lipstick.

You're not alone. I've known others who feel that way.

Same here. The first cosmetic my mom ever let me wear was lipstick. Also same with my lips. I love my lips and like to show them off. Don't get me wrong not all of them taste good, but there are some I find rather nice. BUT I am also a lip gloss nut.

To me if I'm feeling crappy I put on a little lipstick and I feel better. Most of the time that's all I use before leaving the house.

I never wear lipstick. Mainly, due to the fact that you have to constantly reapply for so many thing. When I go out I tend to drink, then the lipstick gets all over the straw or the cup. Plus, I find it better at least for myself to bring more attention to the eyes by highlight them than the lips.

In conclusion, I agree that lipstick is no good.

Try a god all-day one - just once. Give CoverGirl Outlast a chance - they've improved the dryness factor recently.

Instead of using their topcoat, use your favorite lip moisturizer. Do a test on your hand first to see if it'll cause it to rub-off, though. Certain types of oils will do that to it.

It'll solve all the problems you mention there, except, of course, the 'highlighting the eyes" thing. :wink

That's why I only use the "semi-permanent" ones that won't come off and don't have a taste. I refuse to use any lipstick with any type of taste at all.

Lipgloss is nice but comes off too easily so I don't wear that either.

The only regular-type lipstick I've found that doesn't have a taste and doesn't have to be reapplied a lot is the Revlon Colorstay. If it only had a shiny topcoat to use with it I'd be a happy camper, yep.

I don't use lipstick on a daily basis but I do wear it when I go out. The taste of lipstick never bothered me either.

I've been using this nice lip gloss lately by Bert's Bees Lip Shimmer. It's peperminty and sparkly too. Makes my lips instantly feel cool as soon as I put it on.

Meh. When I want to look more the part (( say I'm dressing up and want to add more colour )), I'll use lipstick.

But rarely do I wear it without having a drink nearby for me to guzzle. For me, I find that when it gets in my mouth, somehow someway, it makes it hard for me to swallow and my throat gets dry, almost feels like I want to gag or choke on the taste.

><!!

EDIT: Entire response changed due previous confusion.

CoverGirl Outlast is also very good for this.

I used the Colorstay before I changed to Outlast. Switched because the Outlast really does "outlast" everything else I tried.

Revlon Colorstay "regular-type"?

I don't have a tube handy, but I think they actually lable it "all-day" or "semi-permanent".

I know that if I don't take it off at night with mineral oil, I wake up the next morning with it still on - and NONE of it rubbed off on my pillow. :wink

This is the colorstay I have, in Vixen http://www.revlon.com/product.asp?ProductI...96&Mode=catalog

and this is the kind I wear when I need all-day wear: http://www.maxfactor.com/products/lips/lipfinity.jsp

Oh, crap. I've been saying "ColorStay" all this time, in BOTH threads, and what I mean is Cover Girl OUTLAST!!!!!

I went back and edited all the threads here to reflect what I REALLY meant to say. Quotes of what I said will now be incorrect.

I started with the Revlon Colorstay, as it was one of the first over-the-counter all-day lipsticks. They were INCREDIBLY drying, but I hear they've improved things recently.

The Cover Girl Outlast is SO much better for durability. And I also hear they've improved as far as dryness factor, too.

(Now to edit the other thread:wink.)
