First Video Game System You Ever Had

Recommended Posts

:devil The First Game System we ever had was Pong 1978, Then while everyone in the neighborhood a few years later had Atari 2600, we still had Pong. We would go to neighbor's houses to play Atari, until Christmax of 1981 we finally got one. Then everyone started to go to Intelevision, that did'nt last too long. Then one day one of my brother's friends brought over Coleco Vision and we barrowed it for awhile, we could'nt give it back that easily. The graphics for the time where outstanding! But for some reason I want to pull out the old 2600 and play the old retro games. The games we owned were:

Missle Command

Vanguard

River Raid

Adventure

Pitfall 1 and 2

Journey

E.T.

Endouro

Asteroids

Combat; Came with the system.

Defender

Dungeons and Dragons

and some of the neighbor's games that we did not return back right away but still have.

Atari

Had games:

E.T.

Star Wars

Centipede

Dig Dug

Journey

Pit Fall - I played that one so long one day.....the game really does never end does it....

Joust

and some other ones....

then the 2600 came out? I think? or 3600? something....

had Pong the system...it was this giant nintendo looking thing with a controller with a ball on it.....but it was only the one game.

I still have the atari's, and it still works, and so do all of the games! :cheerful

Hey I DID have that.....intellevision......I think it was the thing described below...

I had some game thing that came with a VHS tape.....and a car wheel control...and the little car on the screen would only go back and forth, but the video was of race track footage...so it was like you were driving...oh so before it's time.

We had Intellivision. My Father had it when I was very very young. Then shortly after that we had the ever so mighty Intellivision 2 which really was just smaller then the orginal. The graphics and sound were nearly the same. I loved that system. It is sure a far cry from what video games have become in this day of age. There is a game out now for Xbox, Playstation 2 and Gamecube called Intellivision Lives, but it is nearly impossible to play without the Intellivision controller.

I took the Intellivision when I moved out of my folks home and it still works.

The first Intellivision

Now the Intellivision 2 system ......... behold the power

atari 2600 was my first, one with the wood effect paintwork.

owned most of the games released in UK for it (even hunting them down and buying boxxes full of them in car boot sales around the place) so i had doubles (i had enough games in total to fill 2 flower boxes at the end). got rid of it 3 years ago

sorry i ever did that. i love that system and the games. simple games with lots of replayability

Intellivision, and my dad still has the console & about 30 games. All I can think when I go over his house and see it collecting dust is, "eBay eBay eBay".

Games that I can remember we had (have) are:

Snafu

Star Strike

Space Battle

Astrosmash

Tron Deadly Discs

Tron something-else

Some kind of surgery game

Space Armada

Triple Action

Poker

Word Fun

Utopia

Ladybug

Donkey Kong

Frogger

Baseball

Bowling

There's a Nintendo sitting around my dad's basement somewhere, too. I never really played it much. Neither did he. I gotta go get it so I can play Mario over here.

We also picked up that "Intellivision Lives" game for PS2. It's kinda lame. But there's an interesting history of the game featurette included that's cool.

which one had the big controller that looked like a TV remote?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Intellivision's looked like a remote with a spinny thing on it. Little plastic things slipped in above the keypad to mark which button was which.

This is Radioshack's version ... but it was the same thing. Like I said, I still have mine around here somewhere ... and all the games.

what was colecovision?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Colecovision is the ONLY place you could get the arcade version of Donkey Kong. Not that it was a perfect port, but it was the closest one......

Eh crap...you get the idea though

My first system was a coleco vision. We had ladybug, donkey kong, etc. I remember it because my father flipped the ladybug game like 4 million. Later on I got a Commadore 64. I had these friends in middle school that were getting access to porn video games. It was so funny. You had this one game called "stroker" were you moved your joystick as fast as you can and there was this big penis on the screen getting bigger and looking like it was gonna explode. That still make me chuckle thing about it. Peronsally, I always enjoyed role playing games like Ultima and Might and Magic, Bards Tale, etc.
