What does it mean to be "A Real Man"? as opposed to a fake one.... How is it different from being a "Real Person"?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

ohhhhhh my my my but you have opened up a huge can of worms......

a few snippits on what being a "real" man might be.... (in my world at least):

1) a leader - especially if and when publically chastized.

2) someone with the werewithall to place himself in accountable relationships with other "real men" who likewise have the courage to tell him from time to time "bro - your shits weak"

3) someone who knows how to prioritize - relationally.

4) someone who knows how to stand - whether its PC or not

5) a good provider who takes ownership of his own shortcomings and allows himself to be taught.

6) a good listener. strike that. a GREAT listener.

9) a giver. anybody can take.

10) a protector of his inner circle without compromise.

11) someone you trust implicitly - simply because of who they are.

12) someone who leads by example, and lives well, as is manifested through relationships with spouse, children, and or others.

13) someone who does what he says he's going to do. consistently.

OK... what do any of these characteristics have to do with being "a man" or of the male sex? couldn't someone with a vagina do these things?

Of course they could.

And they often do.

Mostly - because Men will not get off their asses and do it, so they must compensate for our nutless lifestyles.

I'm concerned with the male species, straight up.

They dont make em like they used to. They dont teach men to be men anymore, instead we simply teach them nintendo and dont offend anybody and then we shove them out to this great warm world of ours and tell them that they are men because they have facial hair and a job.

who do you know (men) that exibits all of these charecteristics that I listed?

I'm 39 years old, man. Seen some things, done some things, been to a few places.

And in 39 years I only know a handful. And they are my mentors. And in turn I am trying to mentor other young men, one in particular right now who's father is uninvolved in his life (big suprise) and he's completely fucked up. I dont even exibit all of those characteristics. At least not consistently enough. But I am in pursuit of them, and its work.
