Aralis
I had a pinched nerve in my back. My Husband fixed it by deeply massaging my back in the area where it hurt. He massaged it and worked it really hard and it did hurt some but the pain was gone the next day.
Ginevra
Non-medical background here. It would be helpful if you kinda knew what sort of back pain you're having. I thought I had sciatic nerve issues some years ago but it actually turned out that I'd pulled both main muscles on either side of the spine right over top of the buttocks. I was seeing a chiropractor and they said it was the sciatic and treated me for such. In the end, it was probably a mistake as it most likely caused more issues than it fixed. I, personally, based on my own back experience, would recommend trying hot/warm or cold packs to see if that helps alleviate your pain. Stay off your feet as much as feasibly possible. If you have to stand, don't stand for long periods, if possible. When sitting, sit in a proper position. If at home, sit with your feet up to help alleivate the weight of your legs pulling in that area. Sometimes, hot and/or cold bath soaks can help as well. Some people swear that Motrin helps them as well. I'd recommend flat shoes, as much as possible as any kind of heel, even just a kitten heel, makes the back turn in directions it's not supposed to. Taken from American Spine. # Sciatica is a syndrome characterized by pain radiating from the back into the buttocks and lower extremities (back of thighs, calves, and/or feet) along the posterior or lateral aspect, and is most commonly caused by a prolapse of the intervertebral disk. # Sciatica is usually caused by irritation of a nerve root of the sciatic nerve, often from compression of a disc or degenerative disease. # The sciatic nerves are long, large nerves that run from the lower part of the spine, in what are called nerve "roots," through each of the buttocks and all the way down the backs of the legs. If something compresses or pinches the nerve roots, it can cause lower back pain as well as pain in the buttocks and legs. # Sciatica is also used to refer to pain anywhere along the course of the sciatic nerve. # If sciatic pain is a chronic problem, then you need to talk with your doctor about a long-term approach. Back surgery is sometimes necessary. There are also a number of things you can do to prevent back problems.

ManicQueen
If it's shooting down your leg, it sounds like a you got the sciatica. Check this site out for more info. Last month I was injured at work and pinch that nerve. Took 5-6 weeks to heal with physical therapy 3 times a week. I'm still hurting. Brenda Starrr
Well, I just got back from the doctor's office. He told me that everything that I am doing is correct. He also prescribed Vicoprofen. I really don't like taking narcotics, but I hurt just enough that I will.
The_Dark
Well, if you wre around I'd give you a relaxing rub down. Most of your pain at this point is most likely sore muscles from uncontrollable tensing in the injured region... If you hubby is any good at back rubs and can do it without turning it into sex... have him give you a nice lower back massage. It helps.
Brenda Starrr
You're right. I've been tensing my back, and it's part of the reason that I'm sore.

Brenda Starrr
It's sciatica, and he gave a scrip for Vicoprofen. Right about now, I'm feeling pretty loopy, and still sore. Just not AS sore. I'm a little nauseous, which is a side effect. Blech. I just want to feel better so that I cna paint my basement in a couple of weeks and start moving boxes.
