.... time will tell.

and that's what makes this argument both divided and passioante, because people have expereinced both sides of the coin.  Unfortunately Mark I've only seen damage to kids raised in Gay  and lesbian marriages.  I havent ever witnessed the other side of the coin.

Maybe you should get out of Garden City then.. Granted I'm here in San Francisco where I obviously have a lot more experience with gay couples raising kids. Honestly they are no different than kids of a "straight" marriage. Although I see them as a bit "cooler" but that may just be having cool parents living in a very diverse and tolerant city.

Maybe your right.

I've only lived in Garden City for a year.

I'm from california - both Northern and SOuthern - lived there my whole life.

Was part of the Hollywood music and party scene - including ventures into west hollywood. I remember being only 14 and seeing several boys sucking several dicks in the parking lot at Oki Dog. I've seen the same thing in my late 20's - up in the canyon, in the homes of some music celebrities you'd know.

I went to raves before anyone (including the media) ever heard of them, when you had to get a phone call giving you another phone call giving you a meeting place to get a flyer to get a password before you could even get in. I participated in all of it, including the wanton sexual promiscuity and chemical experimentation. I loved it.

I bounced back and forth between Northern and Southern cal - Smoked much dope in Mendicino county, lived in Marin, Santa Rosa, Oakland county, and spent alot of time in San Fransisco learning various forms of escapism. San Fransisco and LA are nothing alike and yet completely alike when offering young runaways multiple forms of re-christening.

and if you read my earlier posts you'd see that I was in relationship with both Gay and Lesbian couples with children, we were friends for many years, and would go up to the cabin in Arrowhead to escape form the grind togethor, or go rollerskating togethor or have Christmas togethor. Some of those people are dead now. Since you lie in San Fransisco you've probably expereinced that yoruself. Seen people dying of aids, seen the septic sores in their mouths and throats, smelled the smell, watch people dissapear from their lives who couldent handle the end results for fear that they may be next.

I'm not a rookie. And I dont say these things proudly. But I've seen what I've seen. And most of it I've seen end tragically.

I was born here ... I grew up here ... I've moved from here, but always came back. Planning another move very shortly and will get out of here for good ... but that's a whole other story.

I'm not happy with Garden City.

10 reasons Gay Marriage is wrong:

1. Being gay is not natural. And as you know Americans have always rejected unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because, as you know, a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed. The sanctity of Britany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans
