fallennon
My son is getting his first tooth. The only thing that seems to work is a little bit of whiskey on his gums at the end of the night. But I hate to do that. I have tried Orajel but it doesn't seem to help. He hates teething rings and refuses to chew on a cold wash rag...he's still learning how to hold things up to his mouth (he was born 6 wks. premature so he's a couple wks behind in development in some areas). Any advice?
Onyx
The only thing that helped with my girls was a chilled (not frozen) teething ring and Tylenol or whatever children's pain reliever you use. It hurts inside the gums so oragel I don't think helps. I remember how it hurt when my wisdom teeth came in - same sort of thing. It was an ache. I gave a children's dose of Tylenol every 4 hours for a few days till the tooth broke through and it seemed to help a lot. I always felt so bad for them! They seem to hurt so much with their teeth. gothicmom
My kids didn't really have a problem with teething. Try the pain releaver.
Lilith
there is allways something little ones like to stick in there mouth, so discover what ever that is even if is a block an odd toy, his shoe ( but go get a new clean pair if that is the case) does he like to chew on baby spoons etc..... anything and chill that dont freeze it cause at that age frozen seems to be too much of a shock i do think that with tylenol motrin etc... the use of orajel (maybe trying using a diffrent brand or adult strengh) it should help a little maybe just enough for ou to have a few plesant moments call the dentist and or doctor see if he has anything safe to suggest ther emight be something new out there that not has become popular yet but works way better then anything else. also if ya get any of those round steaks with the round bones my grandma used to use those something about flavor i am not sure just an old fashioned thing they probally did befor they made teething rings but if it works go for it the only other advice is if you are at all getting frustrated by this ( my husband did big time) call someone else to care for the baby and take time out for you no matter the problem with a kid if mom is out of wack the baby will bo out of whack. dont feel bad or guilty for leaving your baby with your mom or his mom etc.... i am sure all of us moms have had to say ya know what i cant handle this you take him for a bit I know i have had to do this even with mine being older i still do it just so i dont do anything i might regret latter. if i can think of anything else i wll add it. The_Dark
I've read before that if an adult went through teething they would not be able to handle the pain. I always think of it as a werewolf transformation in slow motion... It's can't in any way feel good. None of my kids like anything we tried either. It about killed me watching my babys suffer like that. Do your own personel best to help comfort the child. There is nothing you can do to releif the pain, but you can comfort the child as it goes through this tough time.
