I literally did that once. I was working in electronics and this younger guy on my tech team was "put in charge" (only because he was hired before me) and damn if he wasn't full of himself. He talked down to everyone and never helped the new people like he was asssinged to do. So one day I got tired of him running his mouth and smaked him in the back of his head in front of everyone. After that he was real nice to me and the others. And no, I didn't get fired for it either.

When I worked at Media Play last year, I was the oldest one in the store. Never had one problem. Everyone was cool. If I had a question, either I got an answer or was told who would have the answer. It depends on the person. I don't think it has anything to do with age difference as much as who's cool, who's not, sort of a clique cuz I went thru that at Meijer with people closer to my age. Some people get full of them selves when they are put in a position of authority no matter what age.

i have never worked for someone younger than me. i've actually never even thought about it until reading this post.

my last boss was in her 50's and most of the women i worked with were about that age as well. some my age or about my age but mostly older to some degree.

my jobs before that - all older bosses.

i think in the future i would prefer to work for someone older than me or about my age - no offense to younger people. i guess that is not even entirely true. i would just want to work for someone mature, not necessarily OLDER.
