Hamas wins Palestinian elections.

Recommended Posts

This is, in my opinion, one of the more stunning Middle East developments in recent years. A terrorist organization with ties to al Qaeda wins a majority of seats in a parliament. Hamas has said, in its own manifesto, that they will never grant Israel the right to exist, they support hardcore Sharia law and believe that they cannot live side by side with Christians and Jews until Muslim law is established for all to follow. The terrorist wing of Hamas cannot be divorced from the political wing, they are both arms of the same beast striving towards the same goal.

This election will see further alarm in Israel, the Israelis will not negotiate with a Hamas government, and President Bush has already called for Hamas to denounce violence and declare that Israel has a right to exist.

Experts have speculated that the Palestinians voted Hamas in spite of the out going Fatah party, which has 'ruled' the Palestinians for decades. Many site corruption as one of the main reasons. Makes you stand in awe, for this must have been corruption of a grand scale, if it will motivate a people to elect known terrorists into a position of power.

On a side note, one woman who was elected from the Hamas party has sent two of her sons to die in martyrdom attacks on Israeli targets (usually civilians). She has also pledged that she is willing to send her three other sons if they are needed.

This is just crazy and it going to get real ugly real fast and Israel now must seak world support. Israeli acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called for a "unified international position" against a Palestinian government that includes an armed group calling for Israel's very destruction. He warned that Israel will not meet with Palestinian officials until Hamas, changes its official stance.

Just today the USA has threatened to cut off all aid to the new Hamas government and expects other nations to do the same. The USA however will still follow through on aid promised to the current Palestinian government led by President Mahmoud Abbas.

The UE, Russia and the UN have all made calls for Hammas to change it's stance...

Lets also keep in mind that the UE and the UN have both declared Hammas to be a terrorists orginization and can not/will not have any official diplomatic ties with them.

This whole affair speaks to a point eveyone likes to gloss over. How the average Palistinian feels and how the left thinks they feel. Let me explain... Many people on the left think that the homicide bombers and terrorists are the minority in Palistine... that the radical view of wiping Israel off the map isn't one taken up by the majority.... This election proves just the oppisite.
