Ginevra
Could anyone make a recommendation for a laptop? Yes, I'm thinking about one but I'd like to hear why others like/dislike their current models.
Draco1958
A friend has a Compaq, run really nice. Heard pretty much nothing but bad about Gateways. If you are looking for something used but decent. Gibraltar in Taylor and Mt Clemens has a computer show monthly. Can get a good deal on a refurb one. 2 dealers carry used laptops. Compag, HP and IBM's at decent prices.
Fierce Critter
I am waiting to hear back if someone wants to buy my Toshiba Satellite. But if you are looking for a slightly older computer, and this person doesn't want it, let me know. I can give you specs via e-mail if you'd like. Msterbeau
You could get the new Intel-powered Macbook Pro. Very nice, very powerful, the OS is awesome and there's a good probability that you'll be able to dual-boot Windoes on it. Or Linux, if you're into that sorta thing... Not cheap though. Rayne
I had a Compaq. I didn't like it. I had a Hewlett Packard. It was nice until it was about two years old and everything started going on it. Little by little the entire thing was replaced, then the hard drive crashed for the third time. I love Best Buy's warranty, they replaced it with this one. I now have a Toshiba Satellite M45-S355. I love it. Three days after I got it someone (not me) let my dog chew through the cord, so it's covered in electrical tape ... but other than that - which is someone's fault, I love this thing. Homicidalheathen
I like to sit on laptops therefore I recomend myself. No. Wait. You mean puters. I got one at a puter show at Gibraltar for dirt cheap with all the free trimmings. Oh my man paid allot more and got the same thing new (fool, heh) we have HP pavillions with the pentium 4 in them. Scary Guy
I like tablets, where the screen flips around and it becomes... A TABLET! Don't look at brand names, look at what features it has and what you like or don't like about it. I hate the button mose that most (ok ALL) IBM's have. Not a huge fan of touchpads but they have their places. It should have a built on high end graphics card and maybe a high end sound card as well (although that can be used externally). Shouldn't heat up too much and should have a long battery life (can't wait for those fuel cells) Then look at the brand names. I like DELL, Toshiba, and IBM. Rayne
I like tablets, where the screen flips around and it becomes... A TABLET! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I debated between one of those and the laptop I got ... but when looking into them, the tablet screen swively thingies tend to break often and have a shorter warranty period than the rest of the laptop ... so I decided to go with what I got. ... There's always Best Buy's extended warranties, but I have a hard time living without my laptop and that'd be a few weeks without it everytime that swively thingy broke. Head Wreck
tablet looks tempting if you do a lot of cartoon and/or drawing on your computer. love my A4 tablet to bitsd but its just not as natural as watching your hand and the work at once as its created. laptop, ideal stowaway carry things. i have one just for the odd housecall and online freelancer on mad mac's server. but i have noticed TFT monitors with built in PC. not much more than a laptop but with wireless mouse and proper sized wireless keyboard and stand. ideal for someone with bugger all space, especially if thier wall mounted.
