Dead musicians you like

What he said, blowing your own head off and leaving your child without a father.... not the type of person I "like"

exactly. but I was never all that impressed with his music. He wrote some cool pop songs, but overall I just got sick of the whining and the whoa is me. And he always wrote everything with that super dirty mix, which is cool - but I like a bit o variety.

Angus Young isn't dead.

Dead people I like, but didn't necessarily discover after they'd died):

Liked Before They Died:

Elliott Smith

Joey Ramone (today is his birthday, btw)

Johnny Ramone

DeeDee Ramone

Johnny Cash

Kurt Cobain

John McGeoch (ex-Siouxsie & the Banshees guitarist)

Jhonn Balance (Coil)

Liked After They'd Died:

Ian Curtis (Joy Division)

Rozz Williams (Christian Death)

Tim Buckley

Jeff Buckley (I didn't take him seriously when he was alive for some reason)

Tracy Pew (bassist for the Birthday Party)

Pete de Frietas (drummer for Echo & the Bunnymen)

I'm sure there are some more, but these are all I can think of right now.

It took a while for anyone to mention Ian Curtis.  I may just be confused about the general audience of the board.

I'm also a fan of Rozz Williams and Jeffrey Lee Pierce.

Actually a few people here listen to "goth" but suprisingly the majority don't. I started a thread about Clan of Xymox and it got zero replies.

Ok to be on topic:

- Mark Reynolds (the singer of Red Flag, a synthpop band I love and everybody hear should get into, you may know their song 'Black Christmas' which has gotten play at city club)

-Ian Curtis

-Bernard Sumner (ok he isn't dead but after the last few New Order albums, I wish he was......just kidding, sorry bad joke)

-Pete de Frietas

- Roy Orbison (though I did like him when he was alive, just not as much as I do now)

- Del Shannon

- And by the way, the singer from the Happy Mondays is so fat now that I think he'll be dying of a heart attack soon. So let's just add him now.
