"Cat-Shaped Hole in My Heart"

I'm going to get this - never heard of it until someone played a selection from it on internet radio (was listening to "a path dimly lit").

It's a compilation, looks like it has a good variety. My mom runs a no-kill shelter, really likes "Black Tape for a Blue Girl" after she saw them live. I'm going to get her a copy also.

===========

After suffering the loss of his only cat to feline leukemia, Projekt (and black tape for a blue girl) founder Sam Rosenthal was moved to create a disc that would prevent others from suffering this same grief, while also supporting a local Chicago kitty cause. Enlisting the aid of ethereal, gothic, shoegazer and darkwave artists who share a common love for cats, Projekt presents this unique compilation. Each band contributed a song about their own cat and donated their full artist royalties to a Chicago-based charity, The Tree House, a "no-kill" cat shelter; the booklet contains information on avoiding the spread of feline leukemia and preventing your cat from this horrid fate.

I bought a copy of this as soon as I saw this post. FeLeuk is a terrible malady that attacks my beloved feline friends, and there are over three-hundred animal welfare organizations listed on pets911.com who adopt out and care for feleuk special-needs cats.

The very day that I received the CD from Projekt, I was updating an entry for a special-needs kitten diagnosed with the illness.

The music on the CD is interesting Darkwave, with a lot of soothing and melancholy harmonies to get lost in. I've been listening to it on and off since I got it. Unfortunately, it's not exactly the type of music that anyone in my office actually listens to. So I've had to mostly keep it to myself and show it to those much more hardcore pets people on my team as another tribute to the humane work that they do.
