Firefox 1.0 - why can't I stay logged in?

Recommended Posts

I am usually pretty good at figuring things out on my own, but this one has me stumped.

I checked the help files and I have it set up to allow cookies. From everything I can see it looks like it should work, but it doesn't.

I remember it did used to work when I first downloaded Firefox. It's not just this site either. I visit a lot of boards and sites where you have to log in. There are only two or three where I can stay logged in.

I'm puzzled.

I have that problem as well and I'm running that browser I can't stay logged in, however, it at least keeps my name and password in their respective fields and I only have to click GO now.

If I remember correctly, Troy said there'd been some work done on the forum. As much as I personally hate to do it, he recommended deleting your cookies and then re-logging to here.

out of interest, were these sites also hosted by services ike IPBfree

i get that problem with this site and this site only

and when i log in it says last loged in of the 5th of jan or sometin, bout once a month this resets to current date... and then sticks to that date

Nope, even happens with Yahoo.

I've tried deleting cookes and relogging in. I don't think it's this site's problem since it's happening to me everywhere. Something's wonky with Firefox or I don't have something set up right.

It still could be your cookies, not the fact that you deleted them, but the fact that security premissions are set too high. I kind of doubt this because the default premissions are pretty reasonable and keep them stored. But if you have it set to clear them on firefox exit then obviously it won't auto log in.

I am having a simulare problem at work. I use IE there and it was keeping me logged in. I deleted my cookies a week or so ago. Now the damn thing wont remember any password I input. Either some new security patch for Windows did this or some change has been made to the messaging system that did it. I do know this started about the same time that worm was taking down message boards, hence my suspecting a security patch causing the problem.

IE is easier, there is a tab for the cookies, if it's set too high it won't allow them.

But seriously if you don't close the browser it will keep you logged in, or just type it in each time like I do. I'm completely paranoid about security and would rather have my passwords not get stolen. Howver if you're careful it won't happen anyway but I'm extra cautios
