I have a brother. He's African-American. Okay, he's not biologically my brother ... but I kind of adopted him as a brother about 5 years ago. He was raised here in Garden City where the population is predominately white. He's dated white girls all his life, and is now engaged to a white girl. He calls himself my black brother. He makes references to race things himself (ie ... "They just pulled me over because I was a black guy driving a Corvette in a white neighbourhood.") but other than those things ... he speaks badly about his race. I'm pretty sure growing up here was the influence.

Had he grown up in more of a mixed area, I think his views would be different.

The problem with calling names to your own race, or to another race, isnt so much the words we choose to use, its the power people let those words have.

racism, in all its forms, if it is truly racism, SUCKS.

however becoming upset over a certain word or phrase is ridiculous. call me white trash, wtf do i care? i can call up my best bud meli and say 'hey beaner how's it goin' and she takes no more offense than if some stranger walking down the street yells 'look at the wetback' cuz they're just stupid words. I strongly feel that a portion of actual racism would die out if people didnt continue to support the idea that using racial slurs is insulting and offensive and something you have 'fight against' or 'stand up to'

here's why: the people who use them in joking, already have no problem, they're all cool and good to go.

the people who use them to be rude, offensive or hurtful WOULD HAVE NO USE FOR THEM if noone took offense or got hurt.

This is just my opinion, but I think people of all races and nationalities and religions are pretty much the same: MOST OF THEM ARE STUPID AND STUPID PEOPLE SUCK, THEY MAKE MY BRAIN HURT.

Seriously I agree, race/color, religious beliefs and gender should not be used to judge a person, only their actions/deeds. If a person does bad things then that person is bad period not a bad this or that(insert slur). Color, gender and religious beliefs are what make us unique individuals worth getting to know not to be shunned by nor insulted for. And I still believe at my age that we as a people will change for the better. Niave maybe but it gives me hope to believe.

Don't get me wrong....I still see colors though....not intentionally.

Ethical beliefs, spiritual beleifs, customs and rituals, of each race/breed/species DOES separate us from one another. It is accepting our differences.

I am prejudiced. Not racist. Unintentionally....only because that is what society has lead me to beleive.

I clutch my purse tighter in the city....not because I am racist, but predjudiced. A preconcieved idea that "A black Person" is going to Rob me.....I know that isn't true, not in all cases. But it is an impulse. I don't do that thinking about it, I just do, and then notice myself in the process.

Rather than calling it race, I prefer to call it species.

We are just breeds of humans.

But humans none the less.

Lets be human. AND Humane to one another.

Well....There was this one time I dated couple black chix....But regardless I will never again. Call me racist, I dont give a shit cuz I hate all sorts of people and I can care-less whut they think of me. Good answer. To which I agree. However - although I am not black, I also am not white - something that I'm aware of everyday. I dont know what the white experience is - and its not a burden that I wish for either - I'm merely stating the truth.

I have often found in the past however - that the "what race can date your daughter" has yeilded some verrrrrryyyyyy interesting responses.

As a full blooded Latino - I have always been ostracized from my fellow mexican americans. Because I hung out with whites. Because I grew my hair long and listend to Led Zepplin. Because I did not speak fluent spanish like my parents. And because I thought that alot of the generational bullshit that I saw and grew up with was ridiculous and small minded. Latinos are very seperatist in general. They are also very suspicious people in general. And supersticious. And also - very racist. Yes there are exceptions - however they are rare. Like all colors, they too deny their own racism. Yet they also teach it to their children. At the same time - Latinos are passionate, and creative, and firey and loyal - things that i respect and admire. My father is a mexican gardener. I grew up cutting the lawns and raking up the dog shit of the same white kids i went to school with. On weekends they played games and had fun while I went work at their house. Then come Monday morning, there we were togethor in the same classes. Yet we were not the same class.

I have also been asked - all of my life - by white people - "what race are you"? Or - "what color are you??" Because quite simply - I dont look like Joe White-man. I look like......something else...something hard to put a finger on....perhaps middle eastern. In addition many (many) Arabs, Persians, Greeks, Armenians, etc. - have often asked me to vallidate myself. Asked me to confirm their suspicions that I am middle eastern in some way. Why? Because this confirms X amount of value in me?

i just saw king kong. when jack black first started planing to capture kong he looked at the captain of the ship with an evil grin and asked him"huh ah you still got all that chloraphorm right?" and they started laughing like beavis and butthead. this kid in a row up front was like " man white people are fucced up"

we were all sitting behind him laughing. then kong was chasing em and the captian pulled up a harpoon for whales. that was another part we couldnt stop laughing.
