Do you know that they say 1 in 5 people have it? Many don't even know since they never have symptoms.

Many would never have thought that I would have it....perhaps people who read this will think twice about what they do with their bodies when they find out that other people do.

The reason that HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) is so prevailent is because it is considered to be shameful and kept secret.

I am done being ashamed.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the support and friendship. I really do.

I have been wanting to do this for some time now, and so far I don't regret it a bit. I have already had 1 person come out and admit that he has it and had conversations with 4 or 5 people that I was able to come away feeling that I have enlightened them a bit. Each one was surprised to find out something about it that they didn't know!!

So you have an STD (( pardon me if that sounds harsh )), but it doesnt change my opinion of you at all. I dont care if you have Genital Herpes, I dont care if you have AIDS (( well, actually, I would care, because that would just blow monkey chunks all around ))..... you're still good ol' Marblez and I <3 you.

This doesnt change my opinion of you in any way, shape or form.

I dont see you as dirty or anything like that at all.

You're a kick ass woman and no affliction is going to change that. =3

No changes Marblez.

I was like, oh, no big deal...

I thought it was going to be some crazy confession like you are really a man, or something even crazier like You are leaving DGN?!?!

Ouch Sooth :doh

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I'm a man. Hey Tina how long have you had herpes?

P.S. I'm still your friend Tina and will continue to talk about your big oversized jugs.

You're a better person for being honest about it. If we had more people out there like you there wouldn't be epidemics of STDs. Those that have the STD would inform future partners so that risk would be severly lowered. *applause* You're awesome in my book girl!

I may end up regretting this, if I do - Oh well.  I am positive that this will spin everyone's impression of me in one way or another and I am fully aware that in nearly every case it will be a turn to the negative.

After reading this, I will be treated differenty by some. I will no doubt lose friendships. If this must happen, it is an acceptable loss at this point, I need to move forward with my life.

So, without further ado:

I have genital herpes.

Ostracize me, boo and hiss all you want.  This was not a rash decision (no pun intended) on my part. I have been thinking about coming out on this for a long while.  If anyone has any questions ask them here or PM me.  This will be a huge adjustment but having said it, I feel like I can begin educating people about the subject.

I felt the original message needed to be repeated. Marblez you DO disappoint me.

Here I was expecting, oh I don't know,

My girlfriend hurt herself and I went to city club to pick up chicks while she was healing

I'm married and yet falling in love with someone half my age online

I throw stones at everyone who isn't like me even though I live in a glass mansion

I kill republicans in the thumb on the weekends (wait this last doesn't bother me--but you get the point)

You have absolutely NOTHING to be concerned about.

I dated someone once who had it and didn't tell me (not that it matters, but I'm clean)

My friend was raped by someone who gave it to her.

THOSE would be valid reasons to be timid in coming forth.

You will always be as you were, in the highest esteem here

Oh, BTW,

:wave:wave:wave:wave:wave:wave

(I'm home sick so my time back will be brief)

I love you man!!

and no, I do not want your bud light.

I'll take that tequila though!!  :grin

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I owe ya babe....I do. :wink

so ok I've got it too. And the thing is I dont even know specifically who I got it from, I just sort of know "when" I got it (I think) from one of several extremely promiscuous times in my life. Sometimes I was careful, sometimes I was not. And it didint even show itself until I had settled my life back down...suprise suprise.....here's a little reminder of your younger years Steven.

And your right Marblez.....it's very common - yet not often discussed. I have it. My best friend from childhood has it. His wife has it. Her Sister has it. There's an ex-husband and two beautiful redheads in the mix that have it. We ran in the same social circles when we were younger...do the math.....it's very easy to see the connection....though I'd much rather share something else....

I do have questions though

-can it be treated?

-can it be cured?

I have more personal questions but I'll message you

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genital_herpes

Wiki fucking rocks.

"Once the virus is established in the nucleus of the neuron, it is there for life."

Even without that I could have guessed that it wasn't curable, because if it was, there really wouldn't be anything to be concerned with. She'd just get it treated and go home.

Asside from that fact it's a virus, and as of yet we can't kill those off. We can only make them dormant.

"Hypothetically, by interfering with the HDAC enzymes' effectiveness, it may be possible to block the virus's ability to hide from the immune system, leading to a complete elimination of the virus by the immune system. Studies on the impact of HDAC inhibitors on viral latency are ongoing in the HIV arena."

So one can't die from it, it's just annoying I guess.
