I don't care who makes fun of me....

Colour of Rain is not 4/4 so there you go.  You guys are right, opinions are opinions and facts are fact, you and Odims are factually wrong in your posts above.  Please before you post that all their songs are the same tempo please look at the BPM's before making a comment.  Please look up their time signatures before incorrectly saying all their songs are 4/4.  Please look at their chord progressions before dismissing it as fluff dance music.    I really wish people on DGN took some time to research things before they posted and we could avoid debates like this.

VNV's last 2 albums go from slow, brooding songs to harder dance/trance songs to classical instrumental tracks with synth-strings and pianos to synthpop songs.

Seriously someone who likes Haujobb shouldn't complain about VNV Nation's lack of innovation.    I mean, I'm sorry that VNV has largely pushed Skinny Puppy out of the rotation at the goth clubs but hey, more people like them.

By the way a quick check of the billboard charts will prove that Country is not the most popular music in America.  But again, why let facts get in the way?

I am sorry if I upset you sir... It was not my intention... I enjoy VNV thuroughly and I am not claiming that Haujobb is anyway "better" then VNV, most electronic music is simplistic as far as structure and musically, in fact most rock music or anything that you will hear is for the most part musically simple...

VNV did not invent a genere.... Depeche mode was esentually doing the same thing before them, and Depeche Mode based themselves on other artists...etc...

My arguement is simply the following.... I like VNV, they are not my favorite, nor the most complex, nor new... Heck my favorite band on Earth is Tangerine Dream... They do a bit of everything and back in the day, they were extremely innovative, much more then anybody I have heard in the last 10 years... My enjoyement of a song in a club is very different from my enjoyment of music in general, VNV is extremely good at what they do... Club dance music, they have it down to a science, I would argue that Ronin has an amazing voice as well... This has nothing to do with any bitterness about what is being played in clubs these days... simply put, when I listen to certain kinds of other music I hear more complexity, passion, and subtlety that club music has... call me a snob but it's just the way I feel

Which is exactly why I don't like them as much as the more obscure stuff. Then again I wasn't around to be pissed about whoever Skinny Puppy pushed out of the clubs, but I probably would have been.

The EBM Top 40 is still Top 40. I like VNV but there are other bands out there, and other labels then Metropolis.

I've changed my mind. I like them better then any other band now. They are great. They are doing things no one has ever done befor. I am now complete, and I can go slit my wrists. There is no more reason for living.

I love you Odim so much

For the record I would like to point out that I never said I don't like them. They make perfect music for the club where you don't have to really listen to it, just feel it and flow. At home on my stereo or in my truck where you can hear every nuance it's Skinny puppy, Frontline Assembly and Haujobb. In the club it's VNV, Assemblege 23, and Icon of Coil.
