fallennon
So I learned in Sociology today that lonliness affects college students the worst. And the lonliness supresses the brain's production of T Cells which helps to build your immune system. No wonder why I am always sick...

torn asunder
negative emotions in general will decrease your immune responses, i've found - stress, loneliness, anger, depression, feelings of betrayal... all lead to negative thought processes, and open you to illness, physical pain, poor sleep, etc, which then becomes self-perpetuating. by then, it's so hard to bring yourself back out of it, but that's exactly what you need to do. find something, anything, that can bring you joy. (that isn't dependant upon another person, except maybe a child) joy is the key to love, and to heal yourself, you must love yourself. as a society, we try to avoid the uncomfortable spaces inside ourselves whenever we encounter them, by going out too often, drinking to excess or taking drugs, keeping busy just to have something to do... there's a reason it's uncomfortable to sit alone with yourself - the sooner you discover why that is, the sooner you'll be able to remedy it and move on to happier, healthier times... (umm, now that i look at this, it seems like a pep-talk! lol sorry about that!) :whistling:
fallennon
Good point! There is a HUGE difference between ALONENESS and LONLINESS. For example, I can be in a room full of people or by myself and I still feel lonely...as a matter of fact, I think that I feel less lonely when I'm by myself...how strange is that???? Out of everyone I know (besides this board lol) I think I like my own company the best. I never argue with or insult myself or hurt my own feelings...lol
