Ozzfest 2006

Recommended Posts

on the main stage:

Ozzy Osbourne

System Of A Down

Disturbed

Hatebreed

Lacuna Coil

and a "surprise band" that will be announced on May 23rd

on the second stage:

Black Label Society

Atreyu

Unearth

Bleeding Through

Norma Jean

A Life Once Lost

Strapping Young Lad

The Red Chord

Full Blown Chaos

Walls Of Jericho

All That Remains

Between The Buried And Me

this year Ozzfest comes to the DTE Music Energy Theatre on July 19th. Tickets went on sale this morning and and yes I have a few, however I am a little disapointed in this years Ozzfest lineup. I do enjoy 5 perhaps 6 of the bands that will be making an appearance, but the other bands it is either that I don't like them or that I have never heard of them. There are also sadly no darker acts this year as well.

Ozzy will only headline only 10 of the Ozzfest shows this summer and age is starting to take it's toll with him as he wants to "pass the torch". It is being said that Metallica will be the surprise band headlineing the main stage, although Lars denies this, but Metallica and Ozzy have been close the past few months. Metallica inducted Black Sabbath into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame this past month.

Yeah I bought two tickets already being intent on going this time. But it cost me a damn $116 for them. On their site they say they are now charging a $3 traffic control fee along with the few other "convenience" charges. I made it known to them when I purchased tickets online in a survey. I bought them on the WRIF cybercrew exclusive presale. Would be cool to finally see Disturbed and SOAD. Wondering what that surprise band would be too.

There are several of the headlining bands that I would enjoy going to see although I would not want to spend all day there trying to get near enough the stage to see. Can we say camp anyone? :D I'm with WW. Most of the second stage bands I've never even heard of. *ponders*

personally i like the line up thus far, aside from black label society...never really liked them, same with system of a down. And people are talking about avenged sevenfold or bullet for my valentine being the surprise band.

I got y ticket opening day ay 10 in the morning and im very exited, i own most of the bands that are playing and have seen most of them in concert at least once as well. It will be a good time.

fiance got me 4 tix fer me berfday! Happy to see Atreyu and Walls of Jericho on second stage and two times in one year t see Lacuna Coil make me happy.

SOAD is great no matter how many times ive seen them (i think its up to 5 or 6 now)

Black Label are pretty god live as well.

Slayer would be GREAT for the mystery band. As would Manson (both being long time Ozzfest acts)

I never heard of Atreyu until I saw them at a recent Taste of Chaos concert. Their music is pretty good, but their stage act is lacking. You can basically get the same effect from playing a live cd on your stereo... and this is from someone who was 2 people away from the front on average for the whole night.

hehe i havent been to ozzfest since 2000. just appy to check it out again. i went to the first five.

anyone go to the first? Ozzy and Sepultura? it wasnt called ozzfest but was considered the first one

i was at the first ozzfest at pine knob with the HUGE sod fight... the suposed metallica sod fight was NOTHING cmpared to this one (was at both)

Freakin Neurosis, snot, fear factory, type o, pantera, ozzy, Machinehead (they started the sod fight when they covered Reign in Blood from Slayer), Human Waste Project! THAT was the best ozzfest ever.

obviosly no one here likes hardcore/metalcore....i do though, so im exited for this year.

I love metal and hardcore.... just none of the bands listed above, now if they had:

Fear Factory, Slayer, Mortician, Dimmu Borgier, Children of Bodem, Cradle of Filth, Goat Whore, Expolding Zombies, Gutted, Opeth, Otep, Today Is The Day, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Beasteal Warlust, Destroyer 666, Chrision, Decapitated, Vader, Emporer, Marduk, Amon Amarth, End It, Witchery, The Haunted, Nun Slaughter, God Dethroned, Morbid Angel, Immolation, Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, Lucifers Hammer, Deicide, Sodom, Christ Puncher, AC, Damonocy, Crawl, Bathory,... that would be a different story...

But no I am not into metal or hardcore

I like hardcore metal, just not when one band sounds exactly like the next. I am very picky when it comes to hardcore metal for this very reason.

My favorite type of music is black/death metal where I also am little picky with that as well.

Can I get an Amen!!!

Exactly, Unlike previous Ozzfests, these are all in the "Canned NeoMetal" catagory... just not quite dark or hard enough for me...

I couldn't agree more with you Phee. It seams as if we can not escape this nu metal (also called aggro metal or nü-metal) hype that often falls short.

I have gone to nearly every Ozzfest thus far and have been pleased with many of the acts of the past. Just with this year it seams like something is missing.

Although I am disapointed this year, I still have tickets and I am going just because ...... well ..... it's Ozzfest I mean come on. I think a few others on this board who also have tickets feel the same. The atmosphere is unreal.

Sometimes a band I have never heard of goes on stage and I end up enjoying them so who knows, maybe there is still hope. Perhaps the surprise act (to be anounced in May) will make it all better ......... maybe.
