yes, I suppose yours would be for a industrial or harder EBM club. Mine would be futurepop night.

And while City and Necto play some of the bands I listed, they keep playing the same 3 or 4 songs by those bands, they need to mix it up. Plus they wont play something until it gets relatively big in the goth scene, the DJ's don't experiment much and they don't suprise you.

Except one night at CC when they played The Nine, Iris, De/Vision, A Flock of Seagulls and New order. It was synthpop heaven and there was no "harder" music to be found.

Anyway, I am rambling.

That's a damn good list! Good to see Cesium_137 starting to infiltrate people's wish-lists. That's a wonderful CD, for sure. My favourite track off of there is "Agonist" but "Gravity" is very cool, too.

what do you have against white metal? white metal has suffered 400 years of oppression and I dream of a day when white metal can stand next to black metal as equals. Metal Luthor King Crimson did not die for you to leave white metal out of your playlists. =(

My boyfriend and I get into this conversation a lot, and it is one of the reasons I know that he has stopped going to the club often. Although, I think that the songs they do play are good I get sick of the same stuff everytime. These bands do have different albums. But, it's hard to please a crowd.

How many times have they played "Chrome" by VNV Nation? I heard it twice in the same night one time. I love Depeche Mode and I hear them at City Club on a regular basis....one song only....'Sea of Sin'. Why not play 'Precious' or 'Get the Balance Right' or 'I Feel Loved'?

Gleek was playing Seabound for at least a year before I heard them at City Club. It was like the DJ's there were waiting to see if Seabound would get big in the goth scene before playing them.

That said, I do like the music in general at CC and it's all stuff I buy and listen to, but I just wish they would mix it up a little and maybe search for some more obscure future pop stuff instead of playing whatever is on Metropolis's top 10.

I do write requests but no one there plays them.

Which is why I like Gleek and Scary Guy, they play requests. And from I've heard in limited doses, Pulse State plays some future pop that other people aren't playing yet.

Ok, I'm rambling again.

I pretty much agree with all of this.

However, since I don't know music worth a damn, I can't afford to really say anything other than that.

It's people like Blackmail that make me miss club DJing. :/

Honestly, though, you're never going to please everyone that comes to your event. True, I did play a lot of "future-poppy" stuff that normally doesn't get club play in this town (Culture Kultür, Sero.Overdose, Interface, Les Anges de la Nuit, Pride and Fall, &c), but lately it seems that all people want is "hellektro", with a bit of Combichrist and VNV Nation thrown in.

It's like they won't listen to music that actually had thought and effort put into it, but they have no problem with some guy drenching himself in fake blood and screaming about murder and death over what amounts to distorted trance. LOL!
