Concealer for really dark undereye circles

Yes, I know dark circles are soooo gawthy.

I hate my dark undereye circles. I can not find any concealer I'm happy with anymore.

I had some Loreal Total Balance which was very good, but wouldn't you know, they discontinued it. Nothing else seems to work well.

I even ordered that super-expensive Dermablend stuff that's used for burn victims. It still doesn't cover these awful things. They show through everything I use.

To compound the problem I have lots of those ugly crow's feet fine lines under and beside my eyes so it can't be so thin it will spread into those and make them more noticeable. I have enough lines, don't need more. Wish they hadn't quit making the total balance line.

Anyone have suggestions? It also has to be very very blendable because other than eyeliner and lipstick I wear no other makeup at all, just the concealer.

I have dark circles from genetics/thin skin. I have found these two items are the only things that work:

Laura Mercier secret concealer ($22) A little goes a long way, and you must set it with fine translucent powder with no added color. Get a sample at the makeup counter and see if it works for you.

Also, Yves St. Laurent Touche Eclat highlighter pen over the top of regular concealer takes some of the shadows away *really expensive, try it at the counter to see how it wears on you*

Dior makes a similar product for less money that works just as well...it's called skin bright or something like that :)

Thank you!  I'll give those two a try next time I'm at the mall.

I'd definitely spend some $ on something that works.  I have a drawer full of useless concealer products I've tried.

Just go from counter to counter .... they will give you so many samples onyx and then you can go home with all kinds of concealer.

ASK! Explain what your having trouble with, and see if they can give you some samples of things they think will work with what your having trouble with.

Don't be affraid to mix .... If it looks to dark add something lighter .. or if its to light add something dark... but take notes with what you mix and how good it looks , that way you dont forget not only what blending great but what looks great too.

Good luck, its hard ... I really dont have that problem ..atleast not yet ...

Those are really good suggestions. Also when I find something that works I'm going to buy at least two or three. They discontinue things too often. I keep losing my favorite products.

Heh...I am waiting for the miracle cream or surgical treatment and then I am having it done!

I get so sick of hearing "Oh, do you have a black eye?" or "Do you have that flu?" or "You look tired". Sheesh!

Well, I guess I am tired lots of the time...but when I feel good/look sick it sucks. Most of the time I can get decent results with cosmetics/lots of rest. But other times - ugh.

I get really bad undereye circles which are compounded by my constant lack of sleep. Then if I happen to cry, am sick, or have allergies they get even worse.

I've found that what works best is a yellow based concealer that is on the dry side (liquids just seem to soak in), then cover the concealer with foundation that is a shade darker than what I put on the rest of my face (darker because when I've used lighter, the yellow showed through). I'm normally running late so I only bother covering up my circles when I have something important to go to.

I have this concealer stich made by neuttrogena (sp?) - but it is of a green tint....you use that directly on the skin, then cover it up with foundation or "skin" color concealer.

Seems to work for me, but green reduces the redness and purple look...

I totally know EXACTLY how you feel, I've tried all kinds. Dermablend works but is too heavy. I recommend a combination of concealer on the circles and a light foundation on top to cover your entire face. My new super favorite foundation is the loreal true match that you can pick up at most duane reade pharmacies. It's light and matches my skin perfectly. Also, the longer it's on the better it blends with your skin.

As far as awesome concealers, I recommend Trish McEvoy concealers. They are awesome and feel light but give great coverage. Unfortunately, they are also pricey. I do suggest trying them in the store (they sell them at Nordstroms and other fancy type department stores) to make sure you get the right color and that it works for you. You can get a custom compact with two shades that you can combine to get the right tone. I found that helpful when I'd inevitably get tanned despite my efforts to hide from the sun and then, bam, all of a sudden my face needs a new color concealer.

To save some cash and a trip to nordstroms, try out any loreal or revlon concealer with the loreal true match foundation on top! That's what I did when my gift of Trish McEvoy makeup was depleted and I didn't have the $$$ to replace it. The true match is so great, that it blends even cheap concealer and makes it look good. Also, if you pick up the make-up at Rite Aid you can return it if it doesn't work for ya ;)
