I have no idea how to catagorize these guys other than that they are uniqe and in the goth genre, they are great. The dolls have a new CD coming out the 18 of april and will be touring for it in the summer. A show will be held in grand rapids and at the state theatre in detroit. The dolls arent headlining sadly, they are touring with some crappy emo band called "panic at the disco". Either way i cant wait to see them and i was wondering if anyone else is the same way. If you havent herd of them, check them out at there website www.dresendolls.com

I will update with more information as it comes, thanx

Bah. I hate Panic! At the Disco. Not just their music, but the following was large enough to snatch up all the tickets so I get stuck with the Mezz. Of course, I could have shelled out an extra $60 for ground floor tickets, but I have a feeling it's not the smartest thing to do when I'm going to walk out after the DD's are done.

Just hope there's enough Dresden Doll fans to make a good presence and scare the rest of them. And I pray, very very hard, that at least some of The Brigade come along. I've always wanted to see The Brigade :grin

Plus, I won't stand out so much if both of those happen. I don't think many Panic! fans will be crossdressing with painted faces :erm

Edit/Addition: "Yes, Virginia" came out 4 days ago! It was leaked before that, but could you expect any less from the rabid DD fans? Gonna have to snatch that from Projekt's website (since Projekt carries like half my favorite bands  ). And they're creating a musical! If it's well done, I hope it comes around here; *that* will draw an awesome crowd.

If you do buy "Yes, Virginia" from Projekt, search for "A Cat-Shaped Hole in My Heart" if you like animals at all. It's one of those CD's you'd be proud to own: full of songs contributed by bands carried by or similar to those carried by Projekt, songs that likely will not be released on other albums, and proceeds go to charity.

[Plug because these bands are awesome, even by Projekt's standards. Only look if you've got some money to spend on good CD's with a slight risk.]

And what the hell, at least grab something from Voltaire too. There's absolutely nobody like him currently in existence, and that's something you can't say for many bands. Just NOT "Then and Again;" I'd suggest "Deady Sings!" since it's a sample of his best, but I don't know how many Projekt's got in stock. Voltaire's awesome because he'll be damn funny or attack with a sharp edge, well that and he does dancy goth-pop with violins. And his voice is amazing. And he's very hot in a "clean goth" fashion. Voltaire is also a comic book artist (Oh My Goth!), writer, commercial director, teaches, and is very theatrical and witty in his performances. Samples, including my personal favorite of the ones I've heard, "When You're Evil," are located here

Unto Ashes is also absolutely incredible, as an Apocalyptic Folk band. Unto Ashes has members who can play at least 4 instruments and usually brings in extras to add more; they're very innovative, playing some of the most diverse Apocalyptic Folk available, and hold a permanent spot in my top 10 bands. There's a number of mp3 samples available here

[/Plug. Apologies to all offended, but if you would have been, why the hell did you read it?]

At the State Theatre, Mezzanine is general admission, so you should be free to move into the "main floor" area with no problem.

It's reserved seating from what I saw. They generally have the gen adm, balcony, and mezz, and they check to be sure.

Panic! sells quickly, and it's a small arena, and the costs are different. They'll stop me, I'm sure. But I could be wrong.

I didn't want to drive down 2 hours to the Orbit Room. The way there is fine. The way back invites death by sleeping :/

I've been in the State Theatre several times, and every time they've checked to be sure you've gen adm. Especially if they sell out.

I've been there bunches of times too and the only time I've ever had my ticket checked was when I specifically had a balcony seat. Other than that it's always been gen adm anywhere else in the venue in my experience. I remember for Morrissey in '04 and for Sisters of Mercy this year, my ticket said Mezz and I was never hassled about going over to the main floor. Then again, there is the thing about the mezzanine tickets being cheaper for this particular show, though, so who knows.

They checked for HIM, they checked for Rob Zombie. Those both sold out, and fast. They might have also checked for Garbage awhile ago, but I don't think they sold out.

Panic! sold out, and fast. I would assume they'll check. I'll still *try*, but for both HIM and Rob Zombie I saw people turned away when their tickets didn't say ground, including one in my party.

I doubt it matters, because I expect the hardcore DD fans to be spread around; not everyone had the foresight or the money to get ground, and I don't think anyone who's going for DD would shell out that much unless they also liked Panic! Maybe I'm too optimistic ;x

It's more crowd control with a packed State Theatre. They need to control the scene...since Panic! isn't exactly hardcore, there's somewhat of a better chance (Skindred and Thrice opened for HIM) that they'd let some people down. But even then, once the bottom gets packed, they'd start checking.
