Soulrev
I just went to Neo last night for the first time.. It would be the first time I've been somewhere else besides CC.. It was a helluva lot better than CC. They don't search you like at CC. You can wear what you want, bring in your cell phone, even leave and come back for free with a handstamp. Aaron and I had to park like 8 blocks away from the club cuz we didn't know wtf we were doing, but it was fun walking back to the car because everyone in Chicago was drunk last night.. At least everyone walking down Clark street. We left the club around 3 to go tip back a bottle of Captain to save money on drinks.. Drink prices are about the same as CC I think.. I haven't been to CC since I turned 21 but Neo charged me 8 bucks for a Long Island, 6 bucks for a rum and coke, 4 bucks for a bottle of beer and 3 for a draft. 5 dollar import bottles. It's not quite as large as City club, but the sound system was definitely better, the dance floor is pretty nice, the bar is nice, the bathrooms look just as bad as CC's do. I wasn't too sure about the playlist, the DJ was spinning some good stuff but not what I wanted to hear.. I had to put in some requests which were played, thankfully. I got absolutely tanked last night though, we had fun being loud as fuck stumbling back to the car and then passing out on Drummond street. Yayuh! Definitely going back there. I need to check out Exit next.
Soulrev
It was also nice to leave the club and not have to worry about 20 homeless guys begging me for everything I got while I walk to my car. No, instead like I said, EVERYONE was drunk walking down Clark, and not homeless! I just like the idea of being able to leave the club and come back for free, too. AstralCrux
Sounds fun! Dang if I had the cash I'd do a quick roadtrip.... Onyx should be picked up on the way... She is on that side of the state!
Onyx
I like being searched. Less likelihood of there being a weapon snuck inside the club. I do wish there were a better sound system at CC. (Problem is, I can't manage to transplant Detroit friends there, so it would be more of a lonely night) I do plan to check out Neo sometime also though. Soulrev
I guess I'll give a better review of the place. Basically the playlist was o.k. The DJ was playing a lot of songs I've never heard before, so the playlist was quite different from CC. But, he did play a couple of songs I requested (VNV- End of Days, and Covenant- Dead Stars). Other than that the only dissappointment about the club was the size. It's not at all larger than CC. It's probably smaller or just about the same. The only problem was it's only 1 room, basically.. So, talking to someone without screaming over the music is impossible. I had my eye on one girl that night but I didn't even bother cuz I didn't feel like shouting over the music just to talk to her. The crowd was pretty cool. 99% gothic of course. One or two "normal" people. Like I said, bar prices about the same as CC.. I wouldn't worry about getting searched because Chicago is a lot different than Detroit as there aren't crazy fuckers trying to bring in Chef's knives in their boots like at CC.. In other words, they don't search you there because there hasn't been a reason to, it's Chicago, not a bunch of you crazy Detroit fucks runnin with fuckin hatchets LOL. J/K. Anyway, Neo is a good time. I haven't been to Exit, yet, but I'm planning on that place next. I'll give a review of that place as well. The one thing I'm noticing is the lack of organization of Goths in Chicago. There's no message boards like Detroit has. Maybe I need to start a Chicagogothic.net board or somethin.. Hmmm.. But anyway, time to pass out. G'night.
sass_in_the_pants
Oh my! I remember that place. I'm glad to know it's still there. I went there years and years agoSome guy had chained himself to a post. Come on people. How self-absorbed do you have to be to chain yourself to a pole? So I asked him why he chained himself to a pole. He said "It's a reflection of my soul" He was the gothiest of the goth. So, I tickled him and told him how lame he was. Then he started to unchain himself from the pole. So I ran away. That's my story.
