I searched the boards looking for this topic, my search yielded nothing, so here goes.

What was the first urban legend you had ever heard? I remember a girl telling me about the woman who goes for a drive by herself, and there is a man in the back seat of her car, and she stops to get gas and the gas station attendant pulls her out and saves her from the maniac in her backseat wielding an axe. I was on the playground in elementary school when I heard that. She took it to be true, I was fascinated by the story of course. They did have a movie called "Nightmares" that does do that exact urban legend but she told me this many years before that movie was even made. I am assuming it is an old one with variations.

first urban ledgen i heard about was Bloody Mary. (i'm pretty sure it was Bloody Mary) my cousin had convinced my sisters and myself to go to one of the mirrors in the house, while it was dark, and say her name 3x, then she would appear. i don't know if it was the fact that i actually saw something, or if it was because we did it in the bathroom when no one else was around (so there could be no other reflection in the mirror), but it was a creepy thing. not to the extreme of giving me nightmares for weeks on end, but a little creepy. then again... nevermind. save it for another time.

Yeah, the first Urban Legend I heard was Bloody Mary.

My sister Jeri played it with some of her friends and apparently, Mary came out of the mirror and started wreaking havoc. Then they turned the lights back on, and o more Mary.

I never played the game but I dont think I'd want to.

Another game I heard of was called 50 Doors and the way it goes, if you go into a trance (( the wrong way )), you'll be stuck in that state forever. oO

There is the Shoe Tree....in the middle of nowhere somewhere out past Northville, there is a tree with like amillion pairs of shoes thrown up into it...supposedly it is a man who kills and then throws the victims shoes up there.

Then there WAS Denton Rd.....

It's built up now.

There was this bridge that supposedly if you stopped on it, the car would stall, and roll....or something like that. And then you would see a ghost....Oooohh..scawee

We tried. Nothing happened.

Back in highschool when I was a sophmore, my BF at the time, would take me down there and we would make out and he would make bottle bombs out of some cleaners, foil and water.... or something....then throw it into the woods to blow up. :confused yeah....we didn't stay together very long.... :laughing

funny enough, he is a bouncer at the shelter. I still see him a lot. :laughing

You know what else sucked? The vacuum.

No...J/k... "Jeppers Creepers"....I thought it was good until they went and followed/discovered him. Then it got stupid and unrealistic.

I WANT Realistic! Scare the hell out of me with realities DAMMIT!

Denton road has a bridge that if you stop on it and with your windows open, you'll here someone moaning, crying for help. Supposedly a car swerved off the road and crashed into the creek. The sounds are of the victims.

I'd have to find the link to haunted places in Michigan but there is a local cemetary that sits below road level so you drive down to go in and up to leave. It's said that if you drive towards the exit and stop at the bottom of the hill and put your car in neutral, your car will start to roll up the hill.

Heard a story about 2 guys driving around on Grosse Isle in the fog. A woman stepped out in front of them, brakes are hit and the car stops short of going into the river. The woman walks off into the fog where as they try to folow her, they realize she's walking on the river. Apparently the road curves and the guard rail was missing and they would have driven right into the river. Gets weirder. I told the story at a party one night and a friend of mine turned ghostly white. According to him, the story is about him and a friend of his.

Another one. The story of the older couple driving down a dark dirt road. The car stalls and won't restart. The husband leaves to go find help and tells his wife to get in the back seat and cover up with a blanket till he gets back. A little while later she hears a scraping sound on the roof of the car. She remains hidden. A while later there is a knocking on the window, shouts of it's the police. She looks up, sees a police officer and opens the door. They rush her from the car trying to keep her from looking back. However she turns around to see that her husband is hanging from the tree, skinned. The scraping sound was her husbands fingers as he swung from the tree, pushed by a breeze.

Wish the website was still up. The legend of the Michigan Dogman. Sightings date back to the 1700's of a werewolf in the northern region of the thumb of Michigan. In the area of Cass city, Caro city and the surrounding area. One story says that a car traveling down a dirt road hit what they thought was a dog. When they looked in the mirror, it got up, standing like a man yet had the face of a wolf, howled and then ran off into the woods.

I have been studying paranormal events and phenomenon for over 20 years and have a personal story to share about Denton Rd. A few friends of mine and I went there about eight years ago to investigate the area. There is a bridge at the creek and our car was parked right along side of it. I had a window seat, in the front passenger side. We sat for maybe 15 minutes in the still evening with all of the windows down. Suddenly we heard 1 high pitched scream and basically sounds. I saw no one, I asked everyone, they said they saw nothing. The only way I can rationally explain this is that there may have been people down there and we frightened them. The scream was definitely that of a woman. We all heard the same type of sounds and the scream, aside from that, I cannot say who made the sounds but they definitely originated from the creek.

I could get into studying the paranormal. I watch the show ghost hunters. Love it, that is something I could really enjoy doing.

I think I have seen Ghosthunters. Is that the one with the group named TAPS? I was visiting my friend and they have the Dvd. How long have you been into the paranormal? Please feel free to take this discussion to a pm.

I almost joined the American Society for Psychical Research, but I figured why pay money for something I don't need right now.

You can always just do research on your own. Many of these research groups have a lot of ego, etc. Too many people trying to run the show. I guess it's the same with a lot of groups. Everyone wants to be the one in charge. For me, it's more about the gathering of the information, the study and when you do get a hit and encounter something you can't explain, it's a rush! It just re-inforces all you believe in.
