the lighter colored small rings and the center of it are compressed sand. the donut shapped parts seem to be some kind of crystal.

I had a dream about this "thing" lastnight Dark. I wonder if you could take it to the local county musem ... and find out what it is. Im sure if you called one up they would be willing to take a look at it for you. I'm so curious....

I've already tasted it... hence it looking wet in the pics... it tastes like stone. Go figure. Looking at books about fossils.. the closests thing I can find is a jelly fish... but that would mean this was 3 jelly fish sqaushed together with a hole down the middle.

and Marc.. I have it in my hand and I cant really tell what the non-sand part is.

Yeah, I get the feeling this is something man made. if it's something moderen.. i have no idea what it is. I am betting it's a native american artifact of some kind. I live within 3 miles of some mounds... and this was about a half mile from the mounds.

heres an article about the mounds and the area I live in. As remote as this article says they are... I walk to past the mounds all the time.
