did you know that during the 1800's coffee houses were seen in the same light as todays opium dens.

and it should have ramained that way7

tea, the stuff the empire was built on. literally.

coffee came about then the empire fell.

i see a corelation here

*finds his pith helmet and safari jacket and goes of to stick a flag in another pile of earth the workmen had built up on the roadworks*

i like cafe mochas

or i like flavored cophees with some cream or half and half and sugar.

or just plain cophee with cream/half and half and sugar.

i only buy beans and grind it myself too. nothing canned, nothing pre-ground sitting on a shelf.

never black. enough sugar to make it just sweet, and enouogh creamer to turn it a nice brown shade. on the med-light side. i used to add more sugar and cream in the past than i do now. so like 2 spoonfuls of sugar and enough cream to make it a lighter brown. but i have noticed i don't like my cophee *that* sweet anymore.

i don't really like flavored creamers, so i don't buy them. but if i am at someone's house and that is what they have, i am fine with that. as long as they have real sugar in them and not something artifical. i hate fake "sweetners".

basically, I like my coffee with cigarettes amd good conversation. and a little cream. Or Baileys.

I left behind (in Cali) my God Daughter Marci who is beautiful and brilliant and edgy and rebellious and mischevious and oh so goth....next to Laura she was my greatest joy.

We used to have coffee dates.

We'd exchange books and ideas and read each other's writing and challenge one another and call each other idiots till 3 in the morning when they closed the coffee house.

That's about the only thing I miss about home. But I do miss it terribly.

and so when I'm alone in my yard drinking coffee and smoking and thinking to myself.....I always picture her doing the same thing and I wonder what she's thinking. Silly I know, but that's how it is with me, and coffee.....and cigarettes.....

have you seen this movie yet? (coffee & cigarrettes) it's just a bunch of short films of people sitting around, talking, sharing cigarrettes & coffee. steven wright, bill murray, and a lot of other famous people are in it - i don't know how "good" it is, but it's damn interesting, and worth at least one viewing... :cool

  • 1 month later...

It's so hard to do without because nothing wakes me up or perks me up like coffee.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Have you tried a good dose of vitamin B12? It really helps me get up and go.

That said... I like my cophee as such - sixteen ounce, white chocolate mocha with soy milk, no whip, creme de menthe syrup. Not too hot, or it tastes like burned ass and I throw it back on the counter so you have to make me another one. :grin

I really prefer tea for just straight up drinking though, with a little rice milk in it - so it doesn't curdle. I really love tea, but don't drink enough of it, just because I'm too often in so much of a hurry to get anywhere that I don't have time to wait for the water to boil. Time to start brewing up a pitcher for the fridge again - I like my ice tea with mint and lemon.

As for non-fluffy cophee, anything black, non-bitter, not too hot, dot of sugar.

Do you like your coffee hot? Iced? Frozen? I have a bit of a caffeine intolerance but as long as I don't over do it, I am ok. I prefer iced coffee or frozen. Flavored with either Vanilla or Hazelnut.

I don't drink coffee much at all.. Maybe 1 cup a month. I fuckin hate any kind of cold coffee. That frappucino or whatever the hell it is, is disgusting. Black, hot, and a little bit of sugar. That's the only way I'll take it.

I like my coffee how I like my women: dark and bitter.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Two quotes from Eddie Izzard:

"I like my women like I like my coffee ... in a plastic cup."

"I like my women like I like my coffee ... with a spoon in them."

It somehow became the "proper" spelling here. It's all Phee's phault.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

For some reason that reminded me of this post that I made. I'm surprised I didn't spell it "cophee" somewhere in there.
