Which RPG Universe ...

Recommended Posts

Inspired by Crank's post, I've decided to make this one. Which RPG universe would you like to live in. And, for the purposes of this topic, please limit it to table top RPGs only and not CCGs and online RPGs. Start a new thread for those. :-P Although, if it's a game that has both a CCG and an RPG like "L5R" or "7th Sea", then that's okay.

Here are my picks:

~ "Wraith: The Oblivion" would be enjoyable for me and I know I'd kick major ass in the afterlife, but I do suppose it's kinda depressing so I'll rate this at #3.

~ My #2 choice would be "7th Sea". Swashbuckling adventure at it's best. Here's a world I could definately live in, thrive in, and love every minute of it.

~ What can only be described as post-apocolyptic fantasy, my #1 choice for RPG world is without a doubt "Earthdawn". I love everything about this game and the world it takes place in. Even if I were myself, I'd love it, but I'd much prefer to be Alhyn'Tius who is pretty much an idealized me anyway created exclusively for Earthdawn.

~ Doh! How could I forget "Mage". I don't know how I'd rate this. Probably around 2.5 though that still doesn't really work. Neither does an alternate #1 but that's also accurate. I think I'd take the above three over Mage, but still take Mage over the above 3. It's complicated, but that's okay because so is the game. I haven't finished reading the new version yet so I couldn't tell you if I'd prefer that or the old one.

To me, Palladium was just a, "Let's take an AD&D2E character sheet, and make it twice as confusing."

I don't think they made an RPG of Zelda, did they? If not, then it doesn't count as it's a computer game and not TT.

"Lord of the Rings" was made into an RPG using WotC's d20 system under the OGL.

"Star Wars" was originally an RPG by West End Games using their d6 system (though I thought MasterBook was better). It was later bought out by Wizards of the Coast and remade using their d20 system.

So yes, you are allowed to use either of those worlds.

(How's that for geek speak?)

lol @ kelly, you have no Idea hun lol.

I thought rifts was more simple thant AD&D, but to be honest I started rifts first, so I think it boils down to which one your familiar with is the one you tend to stick to more

I'm totally with Kelly here ... I don't understand half of this.

Froyn and Pharoh tried to get me into Guildwars, but I played Froyn's game occasionally when I was over there and he had to walk away for a bit ... I never understood it.

Now, Unreal Tournament on the other hand ... I like playing that one. Connecting all our computers together and playing was fun ... is that really considered RPG though? I dunno.

One of Phee's friends claims he will have me gaming ... probably RPG, knowing him ... but he hasn't tried yet.
