Why does everyone hate harpos?

ASIDE FROM THE LOCATION! what is so bad about harpos to everyone? i love that venue, yes, the area blows, and i hate it. But alot of great bands go there and the security is cool so i dont understand.

I LOVE seeing a show at Harpo's! The bands can rock out and get as crazy as they like without all the limitations that other places place upon them. It seems that the audience can also get a lot wilder then most places allow too which makes for a great time all around. Yeah the area sucks, the bathrooms flood and your feet stick to the floor, but I don't find it much different from any of the other places really. I cannot wait to see Ministry there, it's so going to be a great time!

I'd like to point out that Clear Channel as far as I know has nothing to do with the venue. Which is part of the reason I like it.

Many people have gotten killed there and it's got a reputation. I really haven't had a problem but i've only been twice (once for Dope and Slipknot, second time for Noctu, Lacuna Coil, and Type O Negative... I forgot the dates).

I do remember that the 2001 show where we parked a few blocks down... My friend Rachel's car wasn't touched (white with black writing all over it in permenant marker, even had my address on the top of it at the time lol). However the car behind that had the back window broken out and some things taken. I guess there was a car behind that too at one point but it got stolen. Poor girl was on her cellphone trying to find another ride.

There is risk in everything though.

I Love Harpo's. great Sound System, great big venue for lots of stomping and prancing, good security, but it's just that. The Location.

I like going there, it's just finding someone that is willing enough to go....cause I certainly will not go it alone.

I've heard stories from numbers of people that have had bad expiriences.

I have some of my best times at Harpo's.

:devil Even though the area sux,I have to admit thet Harpo's does get most of the good shows.The only other bad thing is the ownwe is an asshole,and has been known to screw over local and semi local bands,by not paying them instead makeing them pay to play and fight for what is owed to them.Other than that I will be there on my birthday for the Ministry Show!!I can't wait!! :cheerful

i can count on my right hand the number of things and people i hate and harpos is certainly not one of them

however... i live in downtown detroit as many of you know. we're getting rid of cockroaches, someone tried to sell my boyfriend crack the day we got our keys, and the next day there were 3 cop cars outside of the building next door. and i feel rather safe where i live. i didnt even take my stereo faceplate out of my car today cuz i'm only gonna be in for another half hour before i take off for dance class. harpos however... O.o i would probably have gary drive me and drop me off and take my car back home.
