The year was 2002 when I first went. Upon realizing it, I didn't know what to wear so I just threw on some sharp electric blue dress shirt my mom bought me. My friend told me it was a cool place to hang out and meet people so I checked it out and my first time there I hated it. I never wanted to go back stemming from my first experience. Nothing bad happened I was just in a pissy mood and didn't expect to make friends so quickly. After that I gradually started to like it.

I started going about a year ago. It as my friends bachelorette (totally spelled wrong) party. It started at D & B's. Then it went to Wild Woody's. We closed out that place and we really werent ready to go home yet. So, Nikki Kitty and her friend suggest going to CC. I was leary about cuz I had no idea what it was and I was worried about what I was wearing. They said that I was fine since I had on black pants. . .So we went. My first experience was before we even go through the door. There was a cop outside trying to get this guy to leave. I think he and his girl were having a fight and they guy took it too far. The funniest thing about it was when the guy asked the girl to drive him home even after what happend. I dont know if she did though. We went inside after that. And I was in awe. I loved it the moment I got in the door. Nikki Kitty and I have been going there together every chance we have gotten, since then.

i think it always has been. when i used to go back in the early 90's there was a guy there just about every week in a wheel chair.

I discovered City Club only as a myth told to me by an ex-goth friend who grew up in Detroit in the late 90s early 00s

I only recently got to go for the first time with the lovely Critter!

It was a beautiful night on Detroit's Southwest side. The year was 99 I was 18 or 19, some shit, the guns were blazing and the biker gang at the bar below my friends apartment grew louder as the night went on..we didn't want to listen to know more Bob Seger or drunk biker chick badly karaoking to Jefferson Airplane any longer and my friend could only show off her newly pierced nipple to so many people before everyone in the hood seen it, so we decided to go upstairs and get ready to go to this club that my friends, Janet and Rob went to sometimes, who they knew about through Janet's big sister. Now, I had nothing to wear, and even though my big ass wore a size 14 and Janet a size 2, oh believe, you me, we found a fishnet dress, that stretched just right to fit my fat ass!!! That was a wrap, loved it...now, it's a good place to vomit and still find someone that will make out with you with the smell of puke on your breathe....(lol, I'm kidding, or am I?)

I first heard of the place sometime in the mid '80s, although there was never a time when I could've been considered a regular. The afterparty for the Sisters of Mercy's Chene Park gig in the summer of '91 was incredible and my first standout memory of a night there, but I'd gone there a handful of times before that.

2009 or '10... before then i had lived lived farther to the south and went to Outland ind Columbus... I have not been there since the late 90's. Think i would pick City Club over that place tho. I'm not even sure I remember the late 90's anymore however.
