Its a fitness program with military drills and stuff. I've seen it advertised here and there and it sounds like something that I could really use and do. But I dont really know enough about it. Plus once the class is done, where would one go from there. . .

Candy and I could do one, start our own "Gothic Army" It may just be the motivation I need to start excercising again. Funny how I'm more disciplined when there is other people i'm responcible for then when I'm on my own.

EXTEND TO THE LEFT... MARCH!

ARMS DOWNWARD... MOVE!

LEFT... FACE!

EXTEND TO THE LEFT... MARCH!

ARMS DOWNWARD... MOVE!

RIGHT... FACE!

FROM FRONT TO REAR COUNT... OFF!

EVEN NUMBERS TO THE LEFT... UNCOVER!

and when I said best.. I meant best for your body. Not for your ears and socialness (is that a word?)

Military PT doesn't stop. Ever.

I'm not sure of the moderen version but here is a run down of what it was in the 80's when I was in.

You do as many pushups as you can in 60 seconds and "girl" pushups dont count. You do as many situps as you can in 60 seconds. This gives you a Base to work from.

Now your ready to actually start working out.

Say you did 45 pushups and 30 situps. Go you!

Every other day is either an upper body or lower body day. You do not mix days. Work a musle group for a day, let it rest and build the next.

Day 1, Situp Day. (girls are usually better at these days)

Get out of bed and put on PT clothes.. walk zombie like to PT field. Do various strecting excosis. Such as laying on your back and lifting your legs to a 30 degree angle and holding it until your stomach feels like it's on fire. There are many variations to this... do them all. When thats all done.. Calastenics till you feel like your going to die.

Run Two Miles

Go put your uniform on and go to the Chow hall. Want to eat? Good. Time for your Situps.

Do 30 situps. Wait one Minute. Do 30 more situps. Wait one Minute. Do 30 more situps. Go eat.

Then go about your normally schedualed training day.

Lunch time. Man are you hungry. Want some food? Do your situps.

Do 30 situps. Wait one Minute. Do 30 more situps. Wait one Minute. Do 30 more situps. Go eat.

Guesse what happens at dinner time!

Eventually, you get to crash on your bunk and hope you dont mess the blankets up to much so you have time in the morning to take a crap rather than fighting with the bed.

Day 2, Pushup Day. (Boys normally do better here)

This read a lot like situp day and except your Stretches and calastenics all have to do with the upper body. And according to the base.. you would be doing sets of 45 pushups.

Military Training ... ahhh ... memories. Weird how sometimes my movements revert back to it (like all the sudden I will left, right or about face), or if I'm walking with someone, how I will "change step" if nessecary to be instep or it bothers me.

A lot of my exhibition drill movements from way back when I find blended into my everyday use even today.

So is that why you always scramble to be on my right side when we're walking together? I feel so inferior.

I still catch myself walking with my hands cup'd in the military march fashion and it drives me bats when I am out of step.

Something funny...

About 6 of my friends and I (all ex military) were walking down the street one day on our way to lunch. I noticed that we were marching in formation. Noone had realized it. All in step. 2 rows of 3 men with me walking just to the left of everyone else... so... being a smart ass i yelled out. "About Face" and I'll be god damned. Every one of them, in step, spun and started going the other way.

They made me buy lunch.
