phee
We have been here before in past threads but it has been a little while... Just wondering what people could list as "perfect songs" songs that are just so good, that nothing should/could be changed/remixed/covered... the songs are just perfect... Here are some of mine... Steve Roach - The Other side Tangerine Dream - Pheadra Tangerine Dream - Horizon Vangelis - Dial Out Vangelis - The Bounty Frontline Assembly - Plasticity Frontline Assembly - Biomechanic Skinny Puppy - Inquisition Skinny Puppy - Warlock X-Marks The Pedwalk - W.I.T.I.A.K Eisntruzende Neubauten - Haus De Luge Depeche Mode - Something to Do Front 242 - Mutilate VNV Nation - Rubicon Apoptygma Berzerk - Kathy's Song Slayer - Desciple Cradle of Filth - Midian Tones On Tail - The Rain To name a few

Fierce Critter
Too many to mention. But the one that immediately came to mind was "Day is Done" by Nick Drake. I'd love to do a cover myself, but I heard Norah Jones' cover and liked to have died. It was so unnecessary. And I like Norah Jones.

When I heard the "perfect" song "Sweet Dreams" by Eurythmics, fucked up and shat upon by Marylin Manson.... I wanted a gun...

JaneDead
there really are toooo toooo many to name. i am NOT a big fan of cover songs or remakes or remixes of songs i already like. *rarely* it happens but it is so rare i can't even think of too many off hand that i have even liked. but that is not what this thread is about. so ... never mind... (but i will add i have liked some remixes that the cure have done of their own songs but they are the only band i can think of right now that has done this and i liked it.) SanctumNocturna
Depeche Mode - Home (call it typical if you must) Queen - Who Wants to Live Forever (I personally think that it's just ridiculous to TRY and duplicate anything by Freddie Mercury...but hey, this one in particular...and yes, I'm aware of it's non-gothiness) Lacuna Coil - Unspoken, the Acoustic Version (off the B-Side of Comalies) The Frames DC - Your Face (I think it's pretty anyway) Peter Murphy - A Strange Kind of Love Faith and the Muse - Sparks Within Temptation - Mother Earth, Caged, Candles, and Pale (reality, almost anything LIVE by Within Temptation is just phenomenal) My gawfff points have probably gone down a bit...but whatever. I think it'd be a lot harder to do something clever, creative, let alone GOOD with a lot of classic rock stuff. Then again, I've been surprised many a time...and I'm willing to give anything a try at least once... Well...most anything...
